Guitar Philosophy
Acoustic guitars are good!!!
Electric guitars used to be good, but they got too loud.
I’m sure it’s not that I got too old.
Handmade guitars, built by solo luthiers, are wonderful. The builders (at least the ones I’ve met) are delightful folks, and their instruments are as individual as they are.
Small shop guitars are wonderful. They cover niches that the factories can’t reach, they can take chances with lighter builds or new directions. The world is a better place since the rise of small shop builders.
Factory guitars are wonderful. They deliver magnificent instruments at reasonable prices, carry on tradition, find new ways to build large numbers of instruments in a world of declining resources.
And the best kind of music to play on the guitar is Hawaiian slack key. That’s my guitar philosophy.
